Weekend Braggin’

I decided to go to school in Georgia about 2 months ago. I met my boyfriend in a ministry internship in Northern California. I am from Southern California and he is from Georgia. We spent a lot of time confused as to how it was going to work out for us and trying to plan everything out. For the past 2 weeks I have been visiting Georgia for Spring break. It is my first time here and it was actually quite a culture shock for me! I don’t know how to quite put it into words but I will try my best. First of all, people would just let you over on the road. That was very weird, ha! People literally would stop and invite you into their lane with a smile!

People told me to be careful about gaining weight while I’m in the south. BOY is that true!!!! These people know how to eat! Its like stepping into Paula Deans house and, I mean, you can’t say no to Paula! 😀 Anyways, after a while I have started to settle in and I really like it. I love how many trees there are here and I actually really enjoy the small town feel. Everyone is so kind and friendly here. Its cozy and safe while also being really close to Atlanta. I get the best of both worlds!

Right before I came here, I applied for about 5 jobs in jewelry stores. I don’t know why but I just really wanted to work in a jewelry store! It sounds so fun and I loved the idea of being around shiny jewels and possibly have the opportunity to see guys buy their engagement rings! I sent out all the emails and the next day I got an interview! Long story short, I met with the manager a couple days ago and I have one word to describe this encounter, FAVOR. Keep in mind that I am interviewing for a job that I would need in September!!!

I asked for $10.00 an hour and she looked at me and said,

“we normally start people at $12 an hour but I don’t know why I feel like I want to give you $15 an hour. Is that ok?”

(UM YEAH OK YA ITS OKAY HAHAHAHA YES!!!!!)

“Wow, that would be wonderful, thank you!”

So, ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at a new full time jeweler. I work 4 days a week for a total of 40 hours, I get 2 weeks of paid vacation time, I get all the jewels for wholesale price, and I get a whopping $7.75 OVER minimum wage!!!! I also always gets Sundays off and I have three whole days to focus on my classes!

THEN, my boyfriend got an interview at Outback and without even having a real interview, they hired him! And guess where the Outback is?? YUP, right next door to the jewelry store!!!

So yes, there are hard parts about moving across the country. I miss my family constantly, I feel alone without any friends, and its scary! But God is with me, He is has made that perfectly clear.

Everything is coming together here and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Sometimes God springs things up on you that you would never expect and it winds up being so much better than any of the things you could come up with for yourself.

There you go, folks! My weekend braggin’ sesh is officially over. 🙂

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend doing things that make you happy
